Welcome. My name is Amanda Dawn. I am the creator of Elevated Nutrition and am honoured to have you in the program. Get ready to take your confidence and health to soaring new heights.
Allow me to share a bit about my journey, as it lays the foundation for the creation of this program. Back in 2005, I embarked on the path of becoming a yoga teacher. Through yoga, I discovered intuitive eating, as it brought a newfound awareness of my physical body and how I felt after meals. However, upon stepping into the role of a yoga instructor, I encountered intense pressure from studio owners to maintain a slim physique. I was even subjected to hurtful comments, being labelled as "fat" on more than one occasion. Consequently, I found myself trapped in a cycle of trying every diet imaginable, from South Beach to Atkins to The Master Cleanse, and the list goes on. Truth be told, I harboured a deep-seated hatred towards my own body for many years.
Following that, my journey led me to pursue certification as a Registered Holistic Nutritionist. Yet, as I delved into working with clients within the conventional nutrition paradigm, I grew increasingly disheartened. It became evident that the traditional approach was ineffective, both for my clients and myself. After years of being entrenched in diet and wellness culture, I had to undergo a significant process of unlearning to reconnect with my physical body and regain trust in the signals it was sending me.
This program was created to support you in accepting and loving your body. Therefore, to get the most out of our journey together, I encourage you to go through the entire program from front to back first. Avoid doing any of the exercises until you have completed all modules in the program. As you progress, make a note if a particular module resonates with you. Once you've completed the entire program, you're free to select the module that speaks to you the most and focus on it first. There's no strict order to follow; you're encouraged to let your intuition be your compass.
To avoid feeling overwhelmed, allow yourself a minimum of 30 days before moving on to the next section. If you need more time, that's perfectly okay. Remember, this journey is about the process, not just reaching the end goal. I want to ensure that you don't feel pressured to implement too many changes all at once. You are the expert on yourself and your body. Only take on what feels manageable for you during this season in your life. It's important to honour your own pace; there's no rush to complete this program. Small, consistent changes yield significant rewards over time.
If you find yourself procrastinating, you're not alone. Often, it's rooted in a fear of change. Take a moment to let that sink in. Why do we fear change? Because we associate it with pain. However, consider this: there's nothing more painful than illness or dis-ease. That's why you have a choice: to be reactive or proactive in your approach to life's circumstances. Being proactive about your health is not only more enjoyable but also less painful than waiting for events to take control of you. My sincere wish is for you to realize that you have the power to take control of your health and shape a better future starting now.
Always keep your focus on your journey and avoid comparing yourself to others. Each of us is unique, with our own strengths and challenges, and it's important to embrace and love all that makes you uniquely YOU. Ultimately, when we love ourselves, we naturally make better choices and treat ourselves with greater care and respect.
At the end of each module, you will find a healing affirmation. These words are meant to be spoken aloud, felt deep within your soul or shared in whatever way resonates with you. Trust the wisdom of your body and heed the guidance of these healing affirmations as they call out to you. Remember, health encompasses more than just what we eat; it's a journey of mind, body, and spirit.
The rewards you reap from this program are in direct proportion to the effort you invest in it. Therefore, I ask that you refrain from skipping any modules or avoiding specific exercises. It's essential to acknowledge that the influence of diet and wellness culture runs deep within our psyche and cannot be undone overnight. Healing is an ongoing process, requiring daily commitment, heightened awareness, and personal accountability. While this program serves as a catalyst for your journey towards intuitive eating. I encourage you to explore the additional resources provided in the resource section at the end for further support.
