REIMAGINING WELLNESS
Taanishi,
I’m Amanda Dawn
In Michif, Taanishi means “hello,” but it carries a deeper meaning: How is your spirit? How are you truly doing? It reflects the importance of relationship, belonging, and community within Métis culture.
As I reconnect with my Métis ancestry, I’m exploring wellness through relationship with land, nourishment, community, and ancestral knowledge. My work is rooted in reimagining wellness and moving beyond the idea that there is one right way to be well.
I’m especially passionate about supporting women through midlife, a time when our bodies, energy, and priorities can change in ways that leave us wondering what happened to the person we used to be. Rather than pushing against these changes, I invite women to slow down, listen to their bodies, and discover what truly nourishes them.
Using a Two-Eyed Seeing approach, I bring together Western and Indigenous ways of knowing to support women in developing a deeper relationship with themselves, their bodies, their communities, and the land.
Not more rules or things to fix, but a different way of understanding wellness.
Welcome to Dawn Rising.
