How Pinene Improves Mental Focus

I have worked part-time as a budtender for 3 years and I am not allowed to talk about cannabis as medicine at all.  However, many people would have a better understanding and experience with cannabis if we were allowed to talk about some of the therapeutic benefits of terpenes, such as Pinene.

Also, I am an essential oil lover and understanding terpenes will allow you to choose an EO that will better serve your needs.

There is alpha-pinene and beta-pinene.  I will be discussing alpha-pinene, which is the most common terpene found in the world.  It is also one of the most researched.  It has a woody, earthy scent that provides the clean, uplifting fragrance you experience when walking through a pine forest.

Pinene is often associated with energizing cultivars that help people to stay alert and focused.  If you are looking for a more euphoric elevation, look for a cultivar high in pinene.

Benefits of Pinene

Anti-anxiety
If consuming THC makes you anxious, try a cultivar that is high in pinene.  It helps to counteract THC-induced anxiety.

Bronchodialator
It improves airflow to the lungs, helping those with asthma and other lung conditions.

Mental Focus
Pinene inhibits the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, which improves mental focus and alertness.  It also plays a vital role in alleviating the short-term memory loss associated with THC.

Anti-inflammatory
Has been shown to reduce inflammation from aching and sore joints, helping those with arthritis.

Antimicrobial
Has been shown to have powerful antimicrobial activity against antibiotic resistant bugs.
