How Yoga Supports Intuitive Eating

If you’re new to the world of elevated nutrition and learning to connect with your intuition, it can feel overwhelming at first. The idea of listening to your body’s signals, especially if you’ve been disconnected from them due to years of dieting or pushing your limits with excessive exercise, might seem like an impossible task. But trust me, it’s worth it’s weight in gold to honour your divine feminine energy and make this practice as essential as brushing your teeth. Reconnecting with your body requires intention, mindfulness, and a willingness to unpack years of conditioning and truly tune into yourself. Are you ready to take that journey inward?

So, where does yoga come in? For me, yoga was a transformative tool that changed everything. When I first began practicing, I noticed something profound: a growing awareness of my body. For the first time, I could sense how certain foods affected me—some left me feeling heavy and drained, while others energized me and brought a sense of vibrancy. Yoga helped me uncover this innate wisdom, but I’ll admit there were times I silenced it to chase societal ideals of beauty.

During my career as a yoga teacher, I faced external pressures that tested my relationship with my body. Studio owners told me I needed to lose weight to keep teaching classes, and I witnessed so many fellow female instructors battle disordered eating. We were constantly on cleanses or restrictive diets, behaviours that felt completely misaligned with the true essence of yoga. But yoga also taught me this: transformation begins with awareness. It’s only by facing our shadows that we can begin to heal.

My personal journey has been one of unlearning—letting go of years of diet culture conditioning and rebuilding a relationship with myself rooted in self-compassion and self-trust. It hasn’t been easy, and it’s an ongoing process, but I’m here to affirm that it’s possible. You don’t have to live disconnected from your highest self.

The heart of yoga is the journey within. It’s about silencing the noise of the outside world and connecting with the divine energy that resides within you. When you do this, you can transform your life and live authentically, beyond superficial measures like social media metrics or how you look in a bikini. True transformation starts with recognizing your inherent self-worth and showing up for yourself every single day—because if you don’t, no one else will.

I’d love to hear how yoga has supported you on your journey. Sharing our stories inspires growth—not just in ourselves, but in others as well. Let’s keep the conversation going and continue lifting each other up.
