How Yoga Supports Intuitive Eating

If you are new to elevated nutrition, to tapping in and turning onto your intuition.  You may not know where to start and the whole process of listening to your body may seem daunting.

Trust me, it is so worth honouring your divine feminine energy and making this practice a part of your daily rituals, like brushing your teeth.  If you have been shut off to your body's cues for some time because you have been on diet after diet or exercising compulsively beyond exhaustion, it will require intention and mindfulness.  Are you ready to unpack and spend some time within?

Where does yoga fit into all of this?  When I first started practicing yoga, one of the biggest game changers for me, was the body awareness I gained.  For the first time ever, I began to notice how my body felt after I would eat certain foods. Some foods made me feel heavy and lethargic, while others gave me energy and an overall feeling of wellness.  Then I chose to abandon my innate wisdom to focus on my outward appearance.

During my career as a yoga teacher, I had several yoga studio owners call me fat and was told to lose weight if I wanted to continue to teach classes.  I watched many female teachers around me suffer from disordered eating and we were all on some form of cleanse or diet.  This behaviour is not aligned with the true essence of yoga.  However, it is only through awareness and looking at our shadows that we can begin the process of transformation and healing.

I want to share that this has taken a lot of work on my part and I have had to do a lot of unlearning and am continuing to unlearn years of diet culture.  I am here to affirm that you don't have to live the rest of your life disconnected from YOU, your highest self.

The journey of yoga is within.  When we can drop the outside world, and tap into the divine that resides within, we can transform our lives and live to be our authentic and true selves.  This goes far beyond how many social media followers we have or how we look in a bikini.  It starts with recognizing and owning your self worth, it requires showing up for yourself everyday because if you don't, no one else will.

Please share how yoga has supported you along your journey. It is by sharing that we inspire growth in ourself and others.  🙏🏼
