5 Non-Appearance Reasons to Exercise

For so long, us ladies have been working out for physical appearance only.  When you base working out on such a low frequency goal, it's no wonder so many of us are unable to make exercise a commitment.  Us ladies need a flip in perspective to find the joy in moving our bodies once again.  Let me tell you a little secret... it's not to achieve the infamous inner thigh gap.  

Also, we need to shift from the no pain, no gain exercise philosophy that we have unconsciously adopted.  We need to bring our focus back to that of moving our bodies daily, doing an activity that we truly enjoy.  Did you know that just walking 30 minutes a day, is perfectly good for your health.  Now, it's not going to have you running a marathon, but you get my point.  

5 Non-Appearance Reasons to Exercise 

1)  Mental Health

Exercise does the mind and body good.  Exercise releases the feel-good hormones, endorphins, which elevate your mood.  

2)  Physical Health

I love this quote, "when you have your health you have a million dreams, when you don't, you have one."  Let your health be the number one reason you strap on those running shoes.  

3)  Self-Care

By making a commitment to move your body every day, you are showing up for YOU.  Don't forget, you can't show up for others if you are exhausted and depleted because you didn't prioritize time to shake what your momma gave you.

4)  Reduce Stress

Exercise makes your Central Nervous System (CNS) and Sympathetic Nervous System (SNS) communicate with one another, improving the bodies overall ability to handle stress.  Personally, when I am stressed, I have a lot of energy build up in my body.  By exercising, I release this energy in a healthy way.  

5)  Better Sleep

Physical activity increases your body temperature, which in turn calms the body, leading to improved sleep.  Just be sure not to exercise too close to bedtime, or you may have trouble falling to sleep.
